Not all 'nodes' are nodes...
Bringing together two independent neighborhood development projects underneath the UDU umbrella brand, created the first two nodes in Upland. 3rd April 2021

What is a Node?[edit | edit source]

Nodes as referred to within the context of the Upland metaverse, have evolved to encompass any areas that have collaborative or coordinated plans for property and/or business development within them. Find more about nodes by clicking here.

On the Wiki, these are neighborhoods are marked with the tag "node".

History of Nodes[edit | edit source]

The term "Node" in relation to the Upland metaverse was coined in early April 2021 by BEN68, founder of the first node development collaborative: Upland Development United (UDU). This was done to refer to the coordination of several neighborhood development hubs, connected to the central UDU brand.

The origins of community-focused neighborhood development in Upland however, began much earlier than that. For example by Choyna and his detailed plans for Alamo Square and by Teeem who took the idea of neighborhood development to another level entirely with his systematic acquisition and promotion of Visitacation Valley.

The full history of the origins of the term Node is available in text here.

A YouTube Metaverse spotlight on the 'History and evolution of the node concept and term in Upland' is available here.

The term node has since been officially adopted by Upland.

Node Creation Process[edit source]

  • Note - The Node creation process is stable and should be used to help populate the Wiki with your Node information; it is still subject to change. But don't worry ThankMeLater will help any created pages get aligned to any major structure changes.
General Structure for Cities/Neighborhoods[edit source]
  • Cities will be Namespaces (This is a core construct of Wikis, and is the part before the fir colon ":" in the URL)
  • Neighborhoods will be in their City's namespace
    • Example - /Chicago:Portage_Park
    • Note: Namespaces and Pages are CASE Sensitive, please use Capitol Letters for the City and Neighborhood names
  • Neighborhoods belonging to the Category "Node" will appear on the City's Node listing
    • To add your neighborhood to the category "Node" please add [[Category:Node]] to the neighborhood page (This is done on by using the "Edit Source" option, on the neighborhood page, the category tag can be placed anywhere on the page and don't worry it won't show up)
    • The Wiki defines a Node as any neighborhood Sponsored by at least one Designated Upland Entity (DUE)
      • Note: It is possible to have multiple DUEs sponsor a neighborhood, its especially common if there is a more Social DUE and a more Development focused DUE that are working together
